A: Wilkshire.net Accelerator is custom software developed and distributed by Wilkshire.net to allow dial-up customers to Surf the Net, Check Email, Browse Newsgroups and Download Up to 6X Faster than what a traditional dial-up connection allows. This is archived by using a custom method of File Compression, Caching, Persistent Connections, Settings Optimization & File Download Acceleration.
Wilkshire.net Accelerator downloads and sets up in less than 5 minutes. There is no special hardware to install.
Wilkshire.net Accelerator optimizes your Windows Internet settings for MAXIMUM performance automatically.
Wilkshire.net Accelerator features a built in, transparent download accelerator to increase reliability and accelerate downloads. Moreover, our accelerator will resume interrupted downloads from the point where they were interrupted.
Wilkshire.net Accelerator will block most banner ads. It stops those annoying automatic pop-ups and pop-under ads. Most Adware pop-ups are blocked as well.
Wilkshire.net Accelerator enhances your privacy and security making it more difficult for Adware / Spyware to install or send information to unwanted prying eyes. Our accelerator hides your IP address from the web sites you visit.

Q: What are the minimum system requirements for Wilkshire.net Accelerator???
A: Wilkshire.net Minimums:

Q: How much faster will my connection be?
A: Connection and download speed will depend on your modem speed, current phone line conditions, computer performance and configuration. With that being said your connection will appear to be up to 6X faster than regular with an average of about 5X faster being the norm. For example: web pages that previously took 30 seconds to load will load in about 8 seconds... sometimes even faster!
Q: How do I obtain the Wilkshire.net Accelerator Software?
A: You can download the self-installing file at http://www.wilkshire.net/downloads/accelerator.exe. Once you download the software, you'll need to contact our sales office at accelerator@wilkshire.net or call us at 330-874-9030 to obtain your unique accelerator access code.
Note: a custom code will be required to successfully install the accelerator software.
Q: How much does the accelerator service cost?
A: Wilkshire.net Accelerator comes in 2 monthly flavors...
- Package 1 includes Basic and Advanced acceleration for surfing the net, checking & downloading email, browsing NNTP Newsgroups and certain types of file downloads. The monthly cost in addition to a customer's regular monthly rate is $1.99.
- Package 2 includes the Basic and Advanced acceleration plus the entire Wilkshire.net Accelerator Suite: Spyware Blocker, Ad Blocker, Parental Control, Privacy Protection and Animated Gif / Flash Animation Blocking. The monthly cost in addition to customer's regular monthly rate is $2.99.
* If you pay annually for service, we will generate a bill for your acceleration service for the remaining months left on your account for whichever accelerator package you choose.
** If you pay monthly a line item for whichever accelerator package you choose will be added to your regular monthly invoice.
*** Wilkshire.net Accelerator is intended for one PC. You'll need to obtain a separate unique accelerator key for EACH PC using the service.
Q: How do I install the Wilkshire.net Accelerator Software?
A: You can download the self-installing file at http://www.wilkshire.net/downloads/accelerator.exe. Once you download the software, you'll need to contact our sales office at accelerator@wilkshire.net or call us at 330-874-9030 to obtain your unique accelerator access code.
To install the Wilkshire.net Accelerator Software... double click on the accelerator.exe file that you downloaded and follow the prompts through competition. Then Restart your computer (if, not automatically performed). Once restarted, log onto the Internet and the Wilkshire.net Accelerator icon will start animating as soon as you start browsing. Point to it with your mouse to see the effective speed.
Note: a custom code will be required to successfully install the accelerator software.
Q: How do I disable the Wilkshire.net Accelerator software?
A: Right click on the Wilkshire.net Accelerator Icon located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Select DISABLE. To re-enable the Wilkshire.net Accelerator: Select ENABLE.
Q: How do I un-install the Wilkshire.net Accelerator software?
A: Close all running programs. Right click on the Wilkshire.net Accelerator Icon located in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Select UN-INSTALL and follow the on-screen instructions. To Reinstall you will have to download the Wilkshire.net Accelerator software and re-enter you accelerator key provided to you by Wilkshire.net.
* Un-installing the WIlkshire.net Accelerator software will NOT automatically stop the charges for accelerator service. If you decide to cancel the accelerator service you must contact our billing department at billing@wilkshire.net or call 330-874-9030 option 1 and request the accelerator be removed from you regular monthly bill.
Q: I've lost my unique accelerator key...?
A: To re-obtain your unique Wilkshire.net Accelerator Key, please contact us at accelerator@wilkshire.net or call our sales office at 330-874-9030.
* We will need to know your email address and your full name that you originally registered your accelerator service with.
Q: What is accelerated by Wilkshire.net Accelerator?

Q: What is NOT accelerated by Wilkshire.net Accelerator?
- Secure Connections: Redirecting through proxy would breach security
- P2P Protocols: (VPN's, File Sharing Apps, Etc.)
- Non-HTTP Video and Audio
* Some types of Internet Traffic and some Internet Protocols will not be supported by Wilkshire.net Accelerator.
Q: What browser setting are modified after installing the accelerator software?
A: Open your Browser, click on TOOLS then click on INTERNET OPTIONS then click on SETTINGS and then click on DIAL UP AND VIRTUIAL PRIVATE NETWORK SETTINGS. Click on the DIALUP connection. The two boxes under PROXY SERVER will be checked, (the same under LAN settings). Click on the ADVANCED TAB, and verify that the proxy IP address is 127.0.0.1 and the port number is 6198. This is the setting that is modified to enable the successful use of Wilkshire.net Accelerator.
Q: Can I use it when I travel?
A: Yes, the Wilkshire.net Accelerator is independent of your ISP and will allow you to use it regardless of the access number you dial.

Our technicians answer trouble calls in the order that they arrive.
